The National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a mandatory civic education and defense preparedness program for college students in the Philippines. Enacted under Republic Act No. 9163, it has a core mission to promote patriotism, social responsibility, and youth participation in nation-building.

Program Components
Students must choose to complete one of three components to graduate: 
  1. Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS): Focuses on community projects, including public health, education, environment, and social welfare.
  2. Literacy Training Service (LTS): Trains students to teach literacy and numeracy skills to children, out-of-school youth, and underserved communities.
  3. Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC): Provides military training to motivate and organize students for national defense preparedness.
Duration: The program takes two semesters to complete, carrying 3 units per semester.

Common Module:

  • First-year students undergo a 25-hour common module covering citizenship training, disaster risk reduction, and environmental protection before choosing a specific component.
  • Graduates: Those who complete the CWTS or LTS components are enrolled in the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC), while ROTC graduates join the Citizen Armed Force, while ROTC graduates join the Citizen Armed Force.
